Sometimes when you have been out of something for a while it seems extra difficult just to start somewhere. I have been relatively active on social media, but when it comes to my blog and my website it has been way too long. I am just going to dive in and let the chips fall where they may!

I am not sure where to start with all of the new things in the works in this little studio and in our lives! I am excited to get things going with this email campaign to keep you all up to date on everything. I plan to have some VIP goodies later on for my email buddies as well later on as I get in the swing of things.

I took on this huge project last summer during the pandemic, I got lost in quite a few other projects and never wrote about the experience! I have to say at first I was really intimidated by the whole thing, I had never done anything on that large of a scale or on an uneven surface like the walls of this restaurant. After a lot of self doubt and layers upon layers of paint, I finished the five, six foot tall paintings. Once the project was complete I was pretty dang satisfied with what I had accomplished. There are things that I have since worked on to improve my technique, that is part of the fun of it all.

I absolutely love design work, I always have. I don’t get a chance to test my skills all that often, but when I do I enjoy every bit of it! I was able to take the time to put so much love into this perfect little nursery for our angel. Andy enjoyed it a little bit too I think! It ended up completely different than what I originally imagined, but it is even better. I just feel good going into the room and I hope that our little girl will feel the same way one day!

I have been told by more than a few people that I am an over-thinker… I have no argument to say otherwise. I do think about things until I aggravate myself even. With that said, it is the perfect intro for this blog post!

This post is mostly just to share the gorgeous photos that I was able to take with the super talented Lauren Mclntire! She was wonderful to work with and so creative. When building a business things like nice photos are so important even though sometimes we get so busy we want to speed past those kind of details. I have so many ideas for future shoots and future design work but until then I hope you all enjoy these photos!

Where to even start…. It has been so long since I have put anything on paper but here goes nothing! It has been quite the year. 2020 is absolutely nothing like I imagined it would be, or probably anyone thought it would be. The “Planners” of the world are struggling right now because, well, it is pretty impossible to plan much of anything at the moment. Personally, I like some structure in my life. It keeps me focused, but at the same time with this little growing business, the horses, and other big life changes, structure is out the window! I have learned that it is ok and to focus on all of the exciting things going on rather than a structured schedule.

The is more of a personal entry, with a little informative twist. I am enjoying the wedding planning process and just wanted to share my experience! 2019 was a challenge. It included a lot of great memories but also some heartbreaking events. I guess most years have ups and downs but it seemed that there was a great deal of loss for our family in 2019.

Ok, let’s talk about this crazy cutting horse industry. It is the early mornings, the tough horses, the struggle of controlling the variables, and the over all mental game that should chase us off, but, ultimately, each challenge keeps us hooked.

This past month I have been thinking about experiences in life and living in the moment. We often do not take the time to enjoy all experiences or at least learn something from them. Not everything is enjoyable, but even if they aren’t what can we take away from them?

I saw a post the other day that kind of hit me. It said “I don’t like people that need everyone to like them.” Right away I was thinking yes that is so true! We are so fixed on what people think and naturally want everyone to like us. I know personally I worry a little too much about it to the point that maybe I don’t do what is best for me soon enough. I always arrive at the point I need to go eventually, but usually I put myself through entirely too much inner turmoil before it!

Talk about a whirlwind of emotions over the past couple of weeks! There have been so many good ones including my boyfriend becoming my fiancé! I cannot tell you all how excited I am about the whole thing, but I catch myself thinking do I get to do this? Is it ok if I do this? Is it acceptable to have fun with it and make it extra special? There is a little history behind the thoughts which we won’t get into, but, bottom line, this is going to be my second marriage. I wonder what is appropriate for the situation, but it comes down to what makes us happy and who cares what people think. In saying this, it is extremely hard to put that out of your mind. I will also add that being from Mississippi originally, puts the “southern lady” aspect into play along with southern traditions that I can’t help but think about.

It has been a little while since my last post due to a number of things… life gets busy and we lose track of some things just trying to maintain the things that have to be done. The story of pretty much everyone’s life that is trying to balance growing a business along with all of the things that allow you to grow a business.

It is funny how you figure out that some of the things you think are your biggest weaknesses turn out to be the very things that make you strong in the end. My mom was telling me about an interview with one of the actors who plays a main character on Game of Thrones, which everyone is talking about right now because the new season is about to start! He talked about the things that he considered to be his weaknesses like being overweight and awkward. He never felt good in his own skin, but it turned out that those things were some of the qualities that landed him his role.

The evenings are my favorite part of the day this time of year! The days last longer, and we get to enjoy the horses, cook out, or do just the normal things like watching a good movie. No matter what, the evenings give us a chance to unwind and often times reflect on the day and all of the great things happening.

What a week! We got so many things accomplished and enjoyed the beautiful weather to the fullest! As always, we have a million things going on at once, but I am not sure our family could function any other way. Even though we did quite a bit of work, we made time to have fun as well, and sitting here writing about all of it makes me reflect on the amazing things that we were fortunate enough to experience.

I am a little late with this post because it was a busy, but wonderful week! It was very eventful and today I am trying to catch up on everything that was set aside for the week. I am refreshed and ready to go with a few projects I thought of throughout the week, sometimes the change in scenery and the vibes off of a great trip give my creativity a new boost!

I have been working on putting together a yard sale for the past several weeks and we decided this weekend would be the weekend we would try to have it. It has been high for 40 degrees, windy, and even a little rain…. Perfect weather for a yard sale! Believe it or not people did show up and it was a successful sale! I am telling you all this because when going through the house I found a lot of things that brought back memories. Some good, some not so good, but all shaped me into who I am today! I wanted to share a few fun memories that surfaced again while turning my entire home inside out for this endeavor.
